Change your password
API token hashing is enabled by default in InfluxDB OSS 2.9.0
Stronger token security: tokens are stored as hashes on disk, so a copy of the database file doesn’t expose usable tokens. Existing tokens are hashed on first startup and the original strings can’t be recovered afterward — capture any plaintext tokens you still need before you upgrade.

Use influx command line interface (CLI) to update your password.
User passwords cannot be updated in the InfluxDB UI.
Change your password using the influx CLI
Use the influx user password command
to update a password for a user. Provide the following:
- An operator token using your
influxCLI connection configuration,INFLUX_TOKENenvironment variable, or the--token, -tflag. - The username (with the
--name, -nflag) or the user ID (with the--id, -iflag). View usernames and IDs in the output ofinflux user list. - Optional: the
--password, -pflag and the new password. If you don’t provide a password flag, enter the new password when prompted.
Update a password
influx user password \
--name USERNAME \
--password PASSWORDReplace the following:
USERNAME: The username to change the password forPASSWORD: The new password
